The Louis Vuitton Spring 2011 handbag collection is the ultimate complement to Las Vegas nightlife. Images of the campaign shot by Steven Meisel have circulated the Internet for several weeks, and it’s apparent the collection has an unclouded focus on evening, with numerous long-strapped mini bags and clutches adorned with sequins and sparkles.

These handbags have taken an innovative turn from previous Louis Vuitton collections in terms of proportion and design. They are built for movement, dangling from the shoulder or clasped to your palm. Although the collection does seem to have a specific niche market – rich, young women with a taste for the modern – with its bold colors, animal motifs, and floral prints, its visual artistry is something that will appeal to even the more modest Vuitton enthusiast.

Marc Jacobs has definitely delivered a mesmerizing collection filled with glitter and glamour and spirit – everything you want to associate with a night out. One of its more extravagant (and, it’s safe to say, coveted) handbags, the Monogram Nova Minaudiere, is a spherical wristlet with hand-applied Swarovski crystals and a gold tassel, retailing for $35k. This collection is clearly all about excess and those who welcome it.

The collection is set to officially launch in April but some pieces are rumored to hit select stores next month.
